As part of the NBN Project Australia, H2H Plumbing was engaged to install conduits under roads and sensitive vegetation areas. The equipment used for this process is Horizontal Directional Drill Rig, which bores a series of rods below the surface to a designated target location. The poly or PVC pipe is attached to the drill rods and when the rods are retracted the pipe is pulled back into the bore.
This technique is cost comparative to trenching but with minimal mess or disturbance to the surface.
